Edinburgh, August 24, 1988, was born in Wakefield, Yorkshire; 1951 grad. of Queen’s College, BMUS; in 1960, awarded Doctorate of Music, Univ. of Oxford; in his career he held various univ. professorships; in 1970, appointed Reid Professor of Music at the Univ. of Edinburgh, which he held until his death in 1988; one of the distinguished British post-war composers; over 100 compositions are published Go to person page >
