1 I trust in Thee, my strength is in Thy Word,
My way and light, my spring of life, oh Lord.
In want and fear a path for me is laid.
I follow Thee, oh Lord, go Thou ahead.
2 My fervent plea arises, Lord, to Thee.
My Lord, my God, my Intercessor be.
Thou camest forth to say, "My words do heed.
I am your healing and your help in need."
3 The greatest art, belief, when hope has flown,
That our God does not forget His own,
Is what I pray for.
Thou, Thyself, hast said
That our disbelief brings Thee regret.
4 Engrave our heart with confidence in Thee.
May our spirit now turn inwardly
And with incense, that prayer does impart,
Give worship from the temple of the heart.
5 Oh, Pow'r of God, be born in us today.
Make us into a temple, Lord, I pray
Where fires of great devotion brightly glow
And priestly hearts the Highest Helper know.
6 Lord Jesus Christ, before the Father go
And plead for us, high priestly, in our woe.
We beg forgiveness, loudly we implore
For Thou hast done so much for us before.
7 Break through to us with blood of sacrifice.
Redeem our guilt for Thou hast paid the price.
Thou died for all of us so willingly.
Believing this we cast ourselves on Thee.
8 Oh, hear us when in want and fear we pray
Oh, Prince of Life, from us drive death away.
The sinner calls in true, intense regret:
Oh, free us from corruption and from death.
9 Lord, Jesus Christ, wouldst Thou with us reside,
Impart Thy Word, let Peace with us abide.
If we are not the firstlings in thy sight
Accept us as late-comers to Thy light.
10 To Thy believing flock Thou called us in.
We feel the heavy burden of our sin
But we beseech, implore Thee without end
Till in Thy mercy Thou Thy help will send.
11 As members true, our faith we pledge to Thee
With heart and hand and mouth most fervently.
Prepare us now, in time of grace, to be
As Thou wouldst have us in Eternity.
12 Oh, hear us, hear our voice of penitence.
Oh, hear it echo far and wide, intense.
We want to serve Thee, Lord, till final breath,
To be Thine own forever until death.
