1 The favor that could ne’er be bought,
The goodness that was all unsought,
The sacrifice beyond all thought,
This is grace, His wondrous grace.

2 The mercy which is undeserved,
The love which stoop’d to earth, and serv’d,
The loving kindness still reserved,

3 The burning love that t’ward us glow’d,
The bounty lavishly bestowed,
The stream which from Mount Calv’ry flow’d,

4 The tenderness that mov’d His heart,
And led him from His all to part,
The daily strength He doth impart,

5 The love like sun’s converging rays,
