| Tune: | [At the door of my heart long the Savior did stand] |
| Composer: | Robert Harkness |
1 At the door of my heart long the Saviour did stand,
And He knock’d many times with His nail-pierced hands;
But at last I gave ear, and I opened it wide,
And I asked Him to enter and with me abide.
Refrain:
Behold, at your door He doth stand and knock,
If any His voice will hear;
And, heeding the call, will their door unlock,
He’ll enter and bless them there.
2 To the house of a sinner He came as a guest,
And altho’ so unworthy, His love did the rest;
When my Saviour had entered—oh blest be His name!
He at once took possession—my Host He became. [Refrain]
3 Oh, how wondrous the love of my Master Divine,
That He makes me His guest when I welcome Him mine;
For He deings to partake of the off’rings I bring,
And He spreads me a banquet that’s fit for a king. [Refrain]
4 When this wealthy One came with the begger to dwell,
Lo, He brought in His train all His riches as well;
Upon me, even me, He did all things bestow,
And I’m longing that you should His preciousness know. [Refrain]
