352. The Child Of Humble Virgin Born

1 The Child of humble virgin born
Brings joy to ev'ry heart this morn;
Again we hail the Christ-child dear,
Who ushers in a glad New Year.

2 The angels in our joy take part
And serve us with a willing heart;
They sing of Christ, the Holy Child,
Who God to man hath reconciled.

3 If God Himself our race befriend,
Then Satan's rule o'er us must end.
The gates of hell we may defy,
For with us is the Lord most high.

4 This is the year of jubilee;
Why should we still despondent be?
Lift up your voices, sing today;
The Christ-child drives all care away.
