48. Bright Crown

1 Ye valiant soldiers of the cross,
Ye happy, praying band,
Though in this world you suffer loss,
You’ll reach fair Canaan’s land.

Refrain:
Let us never mind the scoffs nor the frowns of the world,
For we all have the cross to bear;
It will only make the crown the brighter to shine,
When we have the crown to wear.

2 All earthly pleasures we’ll forsake
When heav’n appears in view;
In Jesus’ strength we’ll undertake
To fight our passage through. [Refrain]

3 O what a glorious shout there’ll be
When we arrive at home!
Our friends and Jesus we shall see,
And God will say, “Well done.” [Refrain]
