2. The Church of God Flag

1 For the Church the flag is waving, 'tis the flag of emblems rare, As it unfolds to the breezes O this flag so bright and fair; Oh, the red, white, blue and purple sceptre star and wond'rous crown, May it wave in foreign countries ev'rywhere that men are found. Refrain: Yes, we'll hoist the banner high, from the earth up to the sky, And we'll shout the praises to our blessed King; For the flag we understand, means the Church in ev'ry land, May we feel the Christ it honors as we sing. 2 Yes the septre's now in Judah and the star is shining bright, And the glorious crown our King shall ever wear with great delight; There the red and white the blue and the purple oh, so true, May we see it flying ev'rywhere the Church of God abounds. [Refrain] 3 At the forefront of the battle you will find it waving still, We are climbing, pushing, fighting, and we're fighting with a will; When the battle then is over and we stem the turbid flood, You will find the flag still waving o'er the glorious Church of God. [Refrain] 4 On high mountains lift our banner, for the Spirit surely stand, When our army has been gathered from so many distant lands; Oh, our Bridegroom now is waiting, and the bride doth now prepare, As an army with our banners we shall meet Him in the arm. [Refrain]
