For His mercies, firm and sure,
From eternity the same,

2 Let the ransomed thus rejoice,

As the people of His choice,
Plucked from the destroyer's hand,

3 To a pleasant land He brings,
Where the vine and olive grow,

Through luxuriant valleys flow,
