4. Emmanuel, Who Walked Among Us Here

Emmanuel, who walked among us here
inspiring hope, removing doubt and fear,
your friends are gathered now, so come as you said.
Be known to us in cup and broken bread.
May we walk, may we walk with each other to life's end,
not as servant nor as slave, but as a friend.

As once you walked the Galilean shore
and voiced a call your friends could not ignore,
draw us to follow in your footsteps today.
Good Teacher, lead us in Love's joyful way.

Great Healer, as you walked each dusty lane
dispensing love to those who suffered pain,
grant us your gentle touch and soft-spoken phrase.
Make us your healing body now, always.

Dear Savior, as you walked up Calvary's hill
to suffer there and feel death's awful chill,
when Love demands of us such great sacrifice.
give us your will and heart to pay the price.

Lord, as you walked with friends Emmaus way,
and turned their mourning into joy that day,
in us such faith, such hope, such love now increase.
Dear Risen Friend, grant us new life and peace.
