74. Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming

O glorious rose fair blooming, From fragile stem hath sprung! As men of old were singing, From Jesse came a son, When bloomed this radiant flower Amid the snows of winter, Close at the midnight hour. That rose with fragrance laden, Isaiah had in mind; Mary, the holy maiden, Should give to all mankind. Thro' God's eternal pow'r She bore the infant Saviour, Close at the midnight hour.
