226. Come, Holy Ghost, teach us in faith

1 Come, Holy Ghost, teach us in faith
To worship, love, and honor
God's Son, who loved us unto death,
Our Saviour and Atoner,
And serve Him truly, soul and mind,
That we 'gainst sin and death may find
In His deep wounds salvation.

2 Grant that we all Thy doctrine sound
May keep, and lose it never;
And let Thy bread of life abound,
That we may live forever;
Yea, let us die unto all sin,
Be cleansed and purified within,
That fruits of faith may flourish.

3 When we have run our earthly race,
And must to death surrender,
Oh, may we feel Thy blessed grace,
Our Saviour and Defender,
In faith be steadfast to the end,
Our souls into Thy hands commend,
And rest is peace forever.
