11867. Comfort In Trouble

1 By trouble oft I’m overwhelmed,
By snares oft circumscribed;
And yet Thou thinkest, Lord, of me,
Thou’rt ever near my side.

2 My earthly refuges doth fail,
When foes my soul assail,
And men deceive and friends deny,
But Thou doth hear my cry.

3 The path I take Thou knowest, Lord,
It is beset with thorns,
But I will ne’er its track forsake
While glory’s in its wake.

4 It leads to bliss, O boundless love,
From cross to crown I go,
Then shall I shirk the cross below,
And lose the crown above?

5 Awake, my soul, and run thy race,
Lay every weight aside,
Thou soon shalt see thy Savior’s face,
And round His throne abide.
