12661. Breathe Upon Me

1 Sweetly and softly my Savior is calling,
Gently in tones sweet and low;
Calming the storms in my inward life beating,
And hushing my soul and its woe.

Refrain:
Then sweetly breathe on me Thy life,
And quiet all doubting within;
Yes, sweetly breathe on me Thy life,
That my soul may be free from all sin.

2 Stronger and stronger my Savior is holding,
Keeping me close in His arms;
Shielding me safe when the billows are rolling,
And resting my soul from alarms. [Refrain]

3 Deeper and deeper my Savior is coming
Into my heart every day;
Guarding my footsteps while on this life’s journey,
With light from yon Heaven’s own ray. [Refrain]

4 Daily, yes, daily I’m knowing Him better,
Learning—close down at His feet;
Peace o’er my soul rushes on like a river,
And hearts in true unison beat. [Refrain]
