1 When the clouds were dark above me,
And I heard the billows roll,
How the loving voice of Jesus
Whispered comfort to my soul!

Onward, then, I’ll move in triumph,
Till I reach the other shore,
There to gather with the faithful
When the storms of life are o’er.

2 When the fiercest storms were raging,
And I found no earthly rest,
Then my weary head He pillowed
On His kind and faithful breast. [Refrain]

3 Let me hear Thy voice, my Savior,
While I tread the vale of life;
