And scatter Israel’s enemies!
O list to Judah’s plaintive cry,
And turn to joy their sorrow.

2 For like a flood has come the foe,
His gathering forces daily grow,
The knee to him we will not bow;

And darkness gathers o’er the deep;
’Tis only Thou canst shield and keep
