Text: | I Wish That I Had Never Sinned |
Author: | F. L. Cornish |
Tune: | WANAMAKER |
Composer: | John Robson Sweney |
Media: | MIDI file |
1 I wish that I had never sinned,
But since that cannot be,
I’ll lay my guilty burden on
The Lamb of Calvary.
2 I feel the shame, I know the guilt,
My soul cries out in pain;
Dear Jesus, purify me now,
And make me whole again.
3 The saddest hour my life has known
Is that wherein I strayed
Away from God’s divine command,
And penitence delayed.
4 But penitent today I come,
Almighty God, to Thee;
For Jesus’ sake, incline Thine ear,
Accept my humble plea.
5 Speak to my soul in Thine own way,
Relieve its weight of care,
Teach me to go on and sin no more,
That I Thy peace may share.
