1. This day Thou gavest us, O Lord,
Has passed beyond our sight:
Thy loving care has crowned its hours,
Watch o’er us thro the night.
2. E’en as the twilight deepens here,
’Tis day in distant lands.
Gird all Thy servants there with strength,
With blessings fill their hands.
3. While we’re asleep, they labor, Lord;
O grant them rich success,
And peaceful slumber, when we wake
And strive thro’ Thee to bless.
4. At home, abroad, we praise Thee, Lord,
For countless mercies giv’n;
Help us to follow in Thy steps
Thro’ earthly days to Heav’n.
