| Text: | Where Two or Three are Gathered |
| Author: | Nellie A. Montgomery |
| Tune: | [Dear Saviour, we, thy children] |
| Composer: | W. H. Doane |
1 Dear Saviour, we, Thy children,
Are gathered in Thy name,
And trusting in Thy promise,
Thy loving presence claim;
O words so full of sweetness!
Can aught with them compare?–-
“Where two or three are gathered,
I will be with them there;
Where two or three are gathered,
I will be with them there.”
2 When, wearied in life’s battles,
Our hearts cry out for Thee,
And, craving rest and comfort,
We to Thy arms would flee;–-
Then comes the blest assurance
That speaks Thy loving care:
“Where two or three are gathered,
I will be with them there;
Where two or three are gathered,
I will be with them there.”
3 O hour of joy transcendent,
When, from the gates ajar,
A beam of heav’nly glory
Shines on us from afar!
‘Tis then these words are spoken,
As low we bend in prayer:
“Where two or three are gathered,
I will be with them there;
Where two or three are gathered,
I will be with them there.”
