488 | The Hymnal#489 | 490 |
Text: | Blest be the tie that binds |
Author: | John Fawcett |
Tune: | BOYLSTON |
Composer: | Lowell Mason |
Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Jesus' love:
The fellowship of Christian minds
Is like to that above.
Before our Father's throne
We pour united prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one;
Our comforts and our cares.
446
We share our mutual woes,
Our mutual burdens bear;
And often for each other flows
The sympathizing tear.
When we at death must part,
Not like the world's, our pain;
But one in Christ, and one in heart,
We part to meet again.
From sorrow, toil, and pain,
And sin, we shall be free;
And perfect love and friendship reign
Throughout eternity.
