| Text: | Thought for One Another |
| Author: | Mrs. Arthur Scofield |
| Tune: | [Oh, this world has much of sorrow] |
| Composer: | Powell G. Fithian |
1 Oh, this world has much of sorrow
That we all might help allay,
We could charm away the sadness
If we would but watch and pray;
We should do our best to lighten
All the burdens others bear,
And by simple, kindly action
Lift their heavy load of care.
Refrain:
Yes ‘tis thought for one another
That makes life so sweet to live,
Just to show a loving spirit
And be ready to forgive;
When we meet a hungry heart
Let us hasten to impart
Christ’s own spirit, showing others how to live.
2 Faith and hope may be sweet graces,
But in love we’re very sure
Will be found life’s highest pleasure,
And it always will endure;
So when days are dark and dreary
We will find some sin-sick heart,
And do all we can to lighten
His dark pathways ere we part. [Refrain]
3 So ‘tis loving and forgiving
Makes life’s darkest pathway light
And will guide God’s fallen children
To the land where all is bright;
Love will answer love in gladness
And will brighten all our way,
As we travel on our pathway
To the land of perfect day. [Refrain]
