their voice in majesty,
but God on high, supreme in might,

In Jewish practice Psalm 93, and other psalms sharing the same theme, acknowledged God’s sovereignty over all creation, especially over chaotic powers such as those of the raging sea. In Christian use this psalm and its paraphrases have been sung to celebrate the reign of Christ.
