31. Do It To-Day

1 If we only knew what good we could do,
In this world of sin and sorrow,
We would not delay but do it today,
And never wait for tomorrow,

2 Any cheering word, in gloom that is heard,
By a heart that grief would borrow,
May lighten the load, and brighten the road;

But speak it today and never delay,
‘Twill lift the clouds of sorrow.

3 And a loving smile, some heart may incline
To the path that’s straight and narrow;
A kind, friendly deed to one in his need
Is better now than tomorrow,

So do it today and never delay,
And save a world of sorrow.
