| Text: | Psalm 104 |
| Paraphraser: | James Montgomery |
| Tune: | ST. PETERSBURG |
| Composer: | Dmitri Bortnianski |
1. How manifold your works, O Lord,
In wisdom, pow'r, and goodness wrought!
The earth is with your riches stored,
And ocean with your wonders fraught:
Unfathomed caves beneath the deep
For you their hidden treasures keep.
2. There go the ships, with sails unfurled,
By you directed on their way;
There in its own mysterious world
Leviathan delights to play;
And wondrous beasts, immense in size,
Unseen by us but meet your eyes.
3. By you alone the living live;
Hide but your face, your comforts fly;
They gather what the seasons give,
But take away their breath, they die;
Send forth your Spirit from above,
And all is life again, and love.
4. Joy in his works Jehovah takes,
Yet to destruction they return;
He looks upon the Earth, it quakes,
Touches the mountains and they burn;
God, you forever are the same;
I AM is your unchanging name.
