| Text: | The Heart that was Broken for Me |

| Tune: | [My Lord in the garden I see] |
| Composer: | T. Edwin Solly |
1 My Lord in the garden I see
In anguish by heaven’s decree;
His heart filled with woe
By sin’s deadly blow,
The heart that was broken, was broken for me.
2 Alone there my Saviour I see,
He only atoner can be;
His pure heart can feel
My guilt’s crushing heel,
The heart that was broken, was broken for me.
3 My Lord at the Judgment I see,
The Judgment where I ought to be,
His heart feels the blow
My heart ought to know,
The heart that was broken, was broken for me.
4 My Lord with the mockers I see,
Who scourging, reviling decree;
The thorn-prints He feels,
His heart faints, He reels,
The heart that was broken, was broken for me.
5 The blood on the cross I now see,
Atonement is made full and free;
His heart at last breaks,
No longer it aches,
The heart that was broken, was broken for me.
6 O, Saviour, to Thee now I flee,
My whole heart I now yield to Thee,
My all I now give
For Thee now to live.
The heart that was broken, was broken for me.
