Notes: O Store Gud, originaly written in the summer of 1885 by the Rev. Carl Boberg of the Mission Covenant Church of Sweden, was first published in Mönsteras-Tidningen, March 3, 1886. All nine stanzas included here are from E. Gustav Johnson's translation of the Swedish original poem, first published in The Children's Friend, 1925. A shorter version of the words and music first appeared in The Covenant Hymnal, published and copyrighted in 1931. The text widely known as How Great Thou Art is an English translation of a Russian version based on an earlier German translation of the original.
