1 There’s a gentle voice that’s calling,
Softly calling from above;
There’s a gentle Friend that’s waiting,
Just to give His wondrous love.

He is calling, He is calling,
If you listen you will hear;
If you heed Him, if you need Him,
You will find Him ever near.

2 When the days are dark and dreary,
When the clouds obscure the blue;
You may know that He is waiting,
That His love is calling you. [Refrain]

3 When the day of toil is ended,
And the shades of night descend,
To my heart there comes a longing,
To be near, this gentle friend. [Refrain]

4 Jesus shares my ev’ry burden,
And He lightens ev’ry care;
When He calls me I will answer
And go with Him anywhere. [Refrain]
