| Text: | The Ark of God |
| Tune: | [What vessel are you sailing in?] |
| Composer: | Rev. A. E. Lord |
1 What vessel are you sailing in?
What Captain do you claim?
Our vessel is the Ark of God,
And Christ the Captain's name.
Refrain:
Hoist ev'ry sail to catch the breeze;
The sailor plies his oar;
The night begins to wear away;
We soon shall reach the shore.
2 And what's the port to which you're bound?
Declare to us the way?
The heav'n of heavens is our port,--
The realms of endless day. [Refrain]
3 But are you not afraid some storm,
Your bark will overwhelm?
We cannot fear,--the Lord is here;
Our Father's at the helm. [Refrain]
4 The sun is up, the clouds are gone,
The tempest all is o'er;
The city bright appears in sight;
We soon shall reach the shore. [Refrain]
5 And when we all are landed safe
On the celestial plain,
Our song shall be, The Worthy Lamb,
That was for sinners slain! [Refrain]
