| Text: | God our Light |
1 All holy, everlasting One!
With uncreated splendor bright!
Darkness may blot from heaven the sun,
Thou art my everlasting light.
2 Let every star withhold its ray;
Clouds hide the earth and sky from sight;
Fearless I still pursue my way
Toward thee, my everlasting light.
3 Thou art the only source of day;
Forgetting thee alone is night;
All things for which we hope or pray
Flow from thine everlasting light.
4 Still nearer thee my soul would rise;
Thus she attains her highest flight,
And, as the eagle sunward flies,
Seeks thee, her everlasting light.
