55. Here am I

1 Here am I, O Master! ready to be used,
Other lives to brighten and to cheer;
Other hearts to fill with happiness and peace,
And to scatter joy and sunshine here.

Refrain:
Here am I, send me,
Commission me from heav’n above;
Here am I, send me
To deeds of mercy and of love.

2 Send me, O my Master forth into the world,
Into homes of sorrow and of woe;
There to carry sunshine and goodwill and cheer,
Doing deeds of mercy as I go. [Refrain]

3 Summon me on errands of Thy love and grace,
Work for Thee, O Lord! assign to me;
Where I may bring gladness, joy and sweet content,
And a help to others I may be. [Refrain]

4 Here am I, my Master, waiting for the word,
Calling me to serve Thee anywhere;
Speak the word, and whatsoe’er the task may be,
I will gladly do Thy bidding there. [Refrain]
