1 Long ago, when little children
Came the loving Lord to see,
Just such little ones as we.
Jesus bless'd them,
Jesus lov'd them,
Just such little ones as we.

2 While he on the earth was living,
If he saw one meek and mild,
Gentle, truthful, and forgiving,
Well he lov'd that little child.

3 Though he died, he lives heaven,
And his care enfolds us still,
To us all his love is given
When we do his holy will.
