1 What tho' the clouds hang heavy
Over the earth today?
Yet,in His light abiding,
We have a song alway.

Jesus can light up the darkness,
He makes the shadows depart;
He giveth songs when we languish,
He is the joy of my heart.

2 What if the rain is falling,
What tho' our tears fall too?
There is a Star whose brightness
Will all the gloom shine through. [Chorus]

3 What if the fiery furnace
Seven times heated be?
Yet, in the flames with Jesus,
We can shout victory! [Chorus]

4 When in the midst of clamor,
O it is sweet to know,
He is the sol's safe shelter
From ev'ry storm and foe. [Chorus]

5 Thus, while in Christ abiding,
All must be calm and bright;
In Him can be no darkness,
