Additional Prayers

Light of the world, shine in our darkness.
Savior of the world, come into our hearts.
There is much we should fear if we faced this day alone.
But you, O Lord, are with us; thanks be to God! Amen.

A Prayer of Confession and Acclamation
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, we are so often afraid. We are afraid of the dark, afraid of our children’s dangers, afraid to grow old, afraid we may sin ourselves into oblivion. But you are our light and our salvation so that our times are in your hands. We drop our fears there too. Our fears are now in your nail-torn hands and we are relieved. Amen.
— Cornelius Plantinga, Jr.

It is one of my personal favorites.” It was first published by GIA Publications, Inc. in Psalms for the Church Year: Twenty-four common psalm settings for all the seasons of the church year, a collection including settings by David Haas and Marty Haugen.
