43. His Coming May Be Near

1 Who can tell the hour of His appearing?
Are the signs now in the sky?
Are we ready if the coming dawning
Sees Him drawing nigh?

Refrain:
Look well to your garments, Christian,
Be sure they are clean and spotless,
For the coming of the Bridegroom when He shall appear;
Look well to your soul, O sinner,
Repent, that it be made ready
For the coming of the Bridegroom may be near.

2 Christian, yours will be the happy moment,
When in clouds He comes for you;
Sinner, should His coming be tomorrow,
What, then, would you do? [Refrain]

3 Heed the warning, even tho’ the moment
May not surely be made known;
But we know that He is surely coming
Down to claim His own. [Refrain]
