Text: | Our Gethsemane |
Author: | C. Austin Miles |
Tune: | [O garden lowly, earthly yet holy] |
Composer: | E. Alonzo Casselberry |
1 O garden lowly, earthly yet holy,
Where sacred foot hath trod,
Who hath not known thee, when faith has shown thee,
Where knelt the Son of God?
Refrain:
Father in heaven, should we be given,
Some cup to drink for Thee.
Angels, O send us, strong to defend us,
In our Gethsemane.
2 If we be led there dark paths to tread there,
O may we willing go,
Humble nor fearing, still persevering,
To drink a cup of woe. [Refrain]
3 We who have knelt there, surely have felt there
Praying in shadows gray,
God’s promised morrow, bears grief and sorrow,
On angel wings away. [Refrain]
