126. The Hands that were Nailed to the Tree

1 Out from sin unto righteousness lifted,
By the hands that were nailed to the tree;
Thro' the love and all wond'rous compassion,
Of my Savior down reaching for me!

Refrain:
They lifted me out of sins dwelling!
The hands that were nailed to the tree;
And I, all this wondrous compassion,
Can feel, their, down reaching to me.

2 I was down in the cell of sin's prison,
And was doomed, in despair, to remain;
Had they not those dear hands to my rescue,
Come, and loosed the fast shackles dread chain! [Refrain]

3 May I fail not, to praise them forever,
And to tell it wherever I be;
This the glorious gift, of the pardon,
Which they brought and delivered to me! [Refrain]

4 Going up, is my soul with thanks-giving,
There its song of redemption to sing,
Touched, to feel, of the hands that in mercy,
Came, and to it, salvation did bring! [Refrain]
