79b. Thou Gracious God

1 Thou gracious God, and kind,
Oh cast our sins away;
Nor call our former guilt to mind,
Thy justice to display.

2 Thy tenderest mercies show,
Thy richest grace prepare,
Ere yet, with guilty fears laid low,
We perish in despair.

3 Save us from guilt and shame,
Thy glory to display;
And for the great Redeemer's name,
Wash all our sins away.

4 So we Thy flock, Thy choice,
The people of Thy love,
Through life shall in Thy care rejoice;
But praise Thee best above.
