44. The Safeguards of Prayer

1 Jehovah hear thee in the day
When trouble He doth send:
And let our covenant-keeping God
From ev'ry ill defend.

2 O let Him send His help to thee
Forth from His holy place;
Let Him from Zion, His own hill
Sustain thee by His grace.

3 May He remember all thy gifts,
Accept thy sacrifice:
And, granting thee thy heart's desire
Fulfill thy counsels wise.

4 In thy salvation we will joy;
When thou to God dost pray,
May he give answer, in Whose Name
Our banners we display.
