Michael Saward (PHH 16) wrote this creedal text about the mighty acts of God in 1971. It was published in the British Psalm Praise (1973) as an alternate text to the liturgical Easter canticle "Christ Our Passover Is Sacrificed for Us."
Drawing mainly on Paul's resurrection discourse in 1 Corinthians 15, the text confesses the basic doctrines of Christianity and helps us focus on the objective truth of what God has done for his people in Christ. "These Are the Facts" simply states the biblical facts of Christ's death and resurrection and of his work of redemption, which is the heart of the Christian gospel.
Liturgical Use:
A creedal hymn or canticle for Easter and other festive worship services; substitute this hymn for saying or singing one of the other creeds.

Norman L. Warren (PHH 15), a clergyman in Leamington Spa, England, composed YVONNE in 1972 for this text. Text and tune were published together in Psalm Praise (1973). The tune is named in honor of Warren's wife.
With its stepwise motion and strong rhythmic patterns, YVONNE is easily singable. Sing the framing stanzas in unison and the three middle stanzas in parts.
