82. Redemption

1 Jesus the Master came down from above,
Born in a manger, the Savior of love;
Sent by the Father, and pure as the snow,
Why did they treat my Lord so?

The off’ring made, the ransom paid,
He saves and I am free.

2 Out in the highway or down in the street,
Healing the sick ones who fall at His feet;
Blessing the needy who pass to and fro,

3 Nailed to the cross I can see Him just now,
Scorned and forsaken— the thorns on His brow;
Wounded and bleeding, to die from the blow—

4 “Father, forgive them,” I hear my Lord cry:
“I must redeem them, for them I must die;
Down through the valley of death I must go”
