1 Life of all being! Throned afar,
Thy glory flames from sun and star;
Centre and soul of ev'ry sphere,
Yet to each living heart how near!

2 Sun of our life! Thy wak'ning ray
Sheds on our path the glow of day;
Star of our hope! Thy softened light
Cheers the long watches of the night.

3 Assist us, then, to act, to be,
What nature and thy laws decree,
Worthy Thy intellectual flame,
Which from thy breathing spirit came.
