1 Keep me near Thee, blessed Saviour,
Ever near Thy bleeding side,
Though my fainting heart may waver,
Let me in Thy love abide.

Guide my trembling steps aright,
Show to me Thy gracious favor,
Cheer my way with heavenly light.

2 When the way is dark and dreary,
And temptations press me sore,
When my halting steps grow weary,
Draw me to Thee, more and more. [Refrain]

3 When the pow’rs of sin assail me,
Lord, be Thou my guide and stay,
By Thy gracious power lead me,
Unto everlasting day. [Refrain]

4 When at last, this life is over,
And I cross the narrow sea,
Let Thy spirit o’er me hover,
