60. The Morning of the Soul

1 When the faith looks up to Him who died, and lives beyond the sky,
The birds of joy awake to greet the Day-spring from on high;
The night of sin shall pass away, the shadows backward roll,
When Jesus, blessed Saviour, brings the morning to the soul.

O bless His holy name, O bless His name,
He comes with mighty pow’r to save,
He makes the sinner whole;
His love aloud proclaim, his love aloud proclaim,
For Jesus, blessed Saviour, brings morning to the soul.

2 When clouds of sorrow veil my way, and stormy winds are heard,
I call to Him who trod the waves and calmed them by His word;
Again the billows know His voice, and yield to His control,
And Jesus, blessed Saviour, brings the morning to the soul. [Refrain]

3 Then onward to the Golden Shore, all trustfully I press,
For He who saved me at the cross, shall guide me still and bless;
No midnight storm can wreck my hopes, or keep me from the goal,
Where Jesus, blessed Saviour, brings the morning to the soul. [Refrain]
