87. Bright Angels

1 In a midnight dungeon low,
Paul and Silas lay;
But an angel broke the bars,
And struck their chains away.

2 Daniel in the lion’s den,
Slept without alarm;
God had sent His angels down,

4 Chained in Herod’s prison cell,
Praying Peter see;
But an angel burst the gate,
And shouted “follow me.” [Refrain]

5 Jesus lay within the tomb,
Near the dawn of day,
But an angel came from God
And roll’d the stone away. [Refrain]

6 When the Savior in a cloud,
‘Rose to heav’n above,
Angels said He should again,
Descend with peace and love. [Refrain]
