92. Little Candles

1 We are but little candles,
Yet we can brightly shine,
And show our loving Savior
By this one tiny sign.
Just how we try to serve Him,
And all His wish fulfill;
For oh, we dearly love Him,
And want to do His will.

Refrain:
Then twinkle, twinkle, twinkle, twinkle,
AS we brightly shine,
Shedding rays of light around us,
Upward, downward, upward, downward,
Here and there, ev’rywhere,
That’s the way we shine.

2 O naughty words and tempers
Are very bad indeed,
For they will quench our candles,
So we must all take heed.
Then harder ‘tis to light them,
But still we try once more;
We ask for God’s forgiveness,
And help from Him implore. [Refrain]

3 Our tears will quench the candles—
And so we always try
To keep a happy spirit,
And never fret or cry.
For God, who made and loves us,
Will guide and teach us, too;
He tell us, in the Bible,
Just what we ought to do. [Refrain]
