1 God sent Jonah to the Nineveh land
To preach the gospel to the heathen men.
If Nineveh don't repent in forty more days
I will make a way with their wicked ways.

2 Jonah went down to the sea shore,
He made up his mind which way to go.
He boarded the ship, and paid his fare,
The Lord got angry with old Jonah right there. [Refrain]

3 The ship got wrecked and came untied,
The people on board got troubled in mind;
They searched the ship on the deep,
And found poor Jonah fast asleep. [Refrain]

4 Hey! wake up, stranger, tell me your name;
My name is Jonah, I am fleeing from a King;
All of this trouble is on account of me,
Throw me overboard and you will sail free. [Refrain]
