56. In the Light of the Cross

1 I'll dwell every day in the light of the cross,
I'll plunge in the blood shed for sin;
Thank God, though around me the billows may toss,
His peace is abiding within.

Refrain:
In the light of the cross,
What wonderful blessings I see,
‘Twas love everlasting, ‘twas mercy divine,
When Jesus died for me.

2 I'll study His word in the light of the cross,
How precious the promises then;
They bear a sweet balm for each sorrow and loss,
For Jesus is “Yea” and “Amen.” [Refrain]

3 I'll look at my life in the light of the cross,
How small will my trials appear;
And earth's fading treasures will seem but as dross,
With Jesus, my Savior, so near. [Refrain]

4 All glory to God for the light of the cross,
Its splendor, though now I behold,
More brightly will shine as the valley I cross,
And enter the City of Gold. [Refrain]
