67. Evening Hymn

1 Day is over and the shadows
Lengthen in the sky,
Saviour bless us as we gladly
Cast burdens by;
Now Thy face we seek to see,
Turn our hearts to Thee.

2 Come and bless us e’er the darkness
Fills our hearts with fear,
Sweetly do we rest in safety
When Thou art near;
Darkness hinders not our rest,
Safe in Jesus blest.

3 Day is over and the darkness
Takes the light away,
Still we fear not, for the Shepherd
Keepeth our way;
Jesus guardeth while we sleep,
Watching o’er His sheep.

4 Safely now we fully trust Thee,
Shepherd of the sheep,
Happy that so great a Shepherd
Vigil doth keep;
Now we rest from night and cold
Safe within the fold.
