63. Art Thou He that Should Come?

1 Art thou he that should come
Or look we for another?
So John’s disciples said to the Lord,
Who answered by his own true word
The poor imprisoned brother.

2 “Go and show John again,
The blind their sight receiving,
The lame feet walk—the lepers are cleansed,
The deaf ears hear, the dead are raised,
The poor my word believing.”

3 Art thou he that should come
Or look we for another?
‘Tis only he sin’s evils can cure,
‘Tis only he can make thee pure,
My soul; there is no other.
