57. Go banish the night

1 Go, ye children of light,
Go and banish the night,
Go as heralds of Christ and the day;
Go, salvation proclaim,
In the Saviour’s dear name,
Go and drive all the darkness away.

Refrain:
Over mountain and sea,
Where the lost ones may be,
Let the news of redemption be told;
Till o’er valley and plain,
Our Redeemer shall reign,
And the wand’ring are bro’t to the fold.

2 Go, whate’er may betide,
O’er the desert so wide,
Bid the weak and despairing arise;
That each heart may enthrone
The Redeemer alone,
And to Him lift their sin-darkened eyes. [Refrain]

3 Where the sunlight may gleam
Over lake-let or stream,
O’er the wild, rough and lonely highway;
Go from shore unto shore,
Go in faith evermore,
Bear the light of the glad gospel day. [Refrain]
