1 The God who ruleth nations With wise consideration, Whose very name is Love. His love to us He proveth, To Him alone behooveth Good gifts to send us from above. 2 We are in childlike order; God has become our Father Thro’ Jesus Christ, our Lord; He hears His children crying And ne’er was known denying The promise given in His word. 3 If we in faith show weakness, Like doves we call in meekness; It soon attracts His eye; He never stands asunder, But in His love so tender He hears when children to Him cry. 4 I often say: My Father, Thy counsel I will gather; Where else should I resort? In ev’ry difficulty I will appear before Thee, For Thou my loving Farther art. 5 Be Thou my God forever. Nothing from Thee can sever; I beg: Protect Thou me! Confer on me Thy blessings, Thy help and love expressing; I plead: Oh, Father, help Thou me! 6 As Jacob in his wrestling Besought Thee for a blessing, Ere he would let Thee part, So I embrace Thee ever; Thou canst forsake me never, For tender is Thy Father-heart! 7 Ye cares, no longer tarry! No gentleness you carry, For you are stern and hard; Go now unto the Father; He is my Counselor rather – Arise, my soul, unto Thy Lord!
